Two Victims Named in Brown University Incident as Law Enforcement Press On With Search for Gunman.

Two students who were killed in Saturday’s violent attack in Providence were being remembered Monday – as a manhunt for their killer continued following the freeing by local law enforcement of the only individual questioned in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was called “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, according to the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which offered condolences for her at a gathering on Sunday.

She served as vice-president of Brown’s chapter of College Republicans of America, according to the organization. Karoline Leavitt also expressed words of sorrow publicly, remarking: “There are no words. Thinking of her loved ones and companions, especially her parents.”

The Second Victim

The other person killed was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his initial year at the renowned school, family members said.

Umurzokov’s identity was verified by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. His ambitions were lofty of entering the field of neurosurgery and assisting patients,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a online post.

What Happened

Nine other people were wounded in Saturday’s attack in the engineering building of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Authorities said late Sunday that a 24-year-man detained in a police operation at a lodging about approximately 17 miles from the scene earlier in the day was being released.

“We have a murderer out there,” stated Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Occasionally a probe goes down a path, and then you need to change course and go in another, and that is the current situation over the last day or so.”

Public Fear

The gunman discharged a weapon inside a room in the engineering building on over the weekend, firing more than 40 rounds from a handgun, a authority told the media outlet.
