Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Warriors Table

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Soldiers Table Introduced

The latest chapter ended with a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

Given 13 cast members, it was obvious from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.

This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.

What Defines the Combat Party

As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might appear unsuited, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Motivations for Departure

For one thing, the team knows exactly where to go next after a intense opening clash with the antagonists.

A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the campaign’s events—exploited the enemy for his own means, invading the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and swiping all the enchanted items to sell off.

The antagonist then cleared his debts and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each character has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:

  • Thimble, as the companion and best friend, wants retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the region and advises that it is a dangerous location.
  • The strong character and The healer, having defied his house’s orders to execute the target and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could assist the team enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Moreover, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.

Fugitives

Finally, all of them are sought by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and Wicander turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This results in them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

According to episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the combat party will be absent next week, leaving the other eight participants to form the Seekers and Strategists groups.

Viewers can anticipate discovering which players will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
