Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and were in communication with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of Rice specifically in their announcement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete directly, shared a set of images on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the team drafted in the second round.

Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the first six games of this season due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that left multiple people injured. Rice was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, Rice finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
